✅ Faster image imports for repeated image URLs

Sample imports that reference images by URL no longer download and upload the same image over and over. Each image is processed once and reused across rows and across later imports.

Why this matters

Brands that sync large master lists from a PIM or DAM often reference the same image on many rows, or send the same file every day. Until now, every row downloaded and re-uploaded its image, which made large imports slow and could cause timeouts.

What’s new

When an image URL has already been imported and the image hasn’t changed, Samples reuses the stored file instead of downloading it again. Rows that share an image share a single upload.

What this enables

  • Much faster re-imports: in our tests, 300 samples with shared images went from about 10 minutes to about 1 minute.
  • Changed images are still detected and updated automatically.
  • Error handling is unchanged: an image that fails still fails only its own row.

Availability: off by default. Ask your CSM to enable it. Covers Master List and Inventory imports (manual and FTP). Images added through the API aren’t included yet.
