How to set up your RFID scanner?

Supported devices

Launchmetrics is not a hardware expert or supplied, nor an RFID one. Therefore please refer to your RFID partner for device compatibility or hardware purchase and support.

Launchmetrics supports two RFID scanner models: the Zebra RFD8500 and the Zebra RFD40.

For any other scanner, please contact your hardware partner. 

 

 

Step1: Setup your RFID scanner

Important

This step is mandatory if it's the first time the scanner is being used

 

Follow the vendor Quick Start Guide instructions to setup your scanner device.

Step2: Pair your RFID scanner with your iOS device

Important

An iOS device with the Samples app is required to operate the scanner.

 

You can pair your RFID scanner with your iOS device using Bluetooth connection.

  1. Make sure your scanner is turned on and Bluetooth is activated
  2. Go to your iOS device’s Settings page > Bluetooth.
    1. Make sure the Bluetooth toggle is turned ON
  3. The scanner Serial number will appear under Other Devices. 
  4. Tap to pair.

Step3: Configure your RFID scanner with 123RFID app

Important

This step is mandatory if it's the first time the scanner is being used

 

 

  1. Install the 123RFID application on your iOS device
    1. Search for 123RFID in the app store
  2. Select your device in the Settings > Reader list
    1. If the reader/scanner is correctly selected it will turn green and hear some beeping coming from the device
  3. Go to Regulatory (still in the Settings menu)
    1. Choose the region in which the scanner will operate 
    2. ⚠️ This is mandatory, and the scanner can not operate without this setting

Your reader/scanner is now ready to use!

 

 

About 123RFID

123RFID Desktop or mobile application is a utility to help deploy a Zebra reader. It's mandatory to setup the reader and is owned by Zebra Technologies.

Step4: Verify the scanner is connected to the app

Open the Samples iOS app and verify that the scanner gun is connected

Search for Samples by Launchmetric

 

 

Step5: Test your scanner

In the sample app, go to Scan and start scanning an RFID label to see if everything is working correctly.
