Jewelry vs High Jewelry

Distinguishing between the category Jewelry or High Jewelry is often challenging but our rule makes it simple:

The classification is only based on HOW THE PRODUCT IS PRESENTED

This means that “Everything presented as belonging to the JEWELS category is recorded as JEWELS while only items specifically mentioned as HIGH JEWELRY are recorded as HIGH JEWELRY”

Please note that Fine Jewelry is not High Jewelry and it’s recorded as Jewels.

Let’s look at few examples:

  1. This Chaumet adv shows both gold and diamond bracelets.
They are not presented as High Jewelry, then they will be recorded as “Bracelets

  1. In a still-life such as the one presented below, where all the items seem precious and most of the time made of gold and diamonds, the classification between High Jewelry and Jewelry is super easy following the rule.
Only the 2 items circled in green will be recorded as High Jewelry Rings because clearly presented in the captions as part of the High Jewelry Collection of Louis Vuitton and Van Cleef & Arpels, while all the others will be recorded simply as Rings even if made of gold and diamonds.

  1. A page like the one below published in several Modern Luxury magazines and showing 9 bracelets belonging to jewelry luxury brands could create inconsistencies in our data; some items could be recorded differently across the Modern Luxury Titles but following our rule, this will not happen.
None of them are presented as part of the High Jewelry Collection of the Brand and then all of them will be recorded simply as Bracelets.
